MACON ó Catherine Brooks-Russell, 63, died Oct. 1, 2018, at her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at ST. Mark Church of Holiness with the Rev. James A. Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-6 p.m. Friday at Carterís Funeral Services. Carterís Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Russell was born June 15, 1955, in Macon, to Bridie King-Brooks and Johnnie Hughes Payton. She was a member of St. Mark Church of Holiness. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Brooks; and brother, Johnny R. Payton. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, William Russell of Macon; children, Caron Gillespie and Freddie Brooks of Macon, Henry Curtis Brooks of Starkville and Ozzie Curtis Brooks of Columbus; stepchildren, Marquis Russell of New York and Islandia Russell of Macon; sisters, Virgina Williams, Brenda Washington and Mary Poindexter, all of Macon, Mary Alice Stewart of Memphis, Tennessee and Sandra Payton of Daytona Beach, Florida; brothers, Frank Lockett, James Williams, James Von Brooks and Eddie James Brooks, all of Macon and William L. Payton of Jackson; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Raheem Gillespie, Debredrick Jones, Jaylon Brooks, Quan Brooks, Shunessy Sherrod, Nicholas Gillespie and Jacobi Sherrod.
