WEST POINT — Julia Bell Shaffer Vance, 54, died Oct. 7, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Grove M.B. Church in Prairie with the Rev. Carlos Petty officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday at Carter’s Mortuary Services. Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Vance was born Oct. 11, 1963, in Clay County, to the late J.C. Shaffer and Callie Shaffer. She was formerly employed with Blazon Flexible Flyer. She is survived by her sons, Javon Shaffer, Javaris Vance and Jarquez Rogers, all of West Point; daughter, Tyonna Rogers of West Point; stepdaughter, Yolando “Tina” Bailey; brothers, J.D. Shaffer and Albert Shaffer, both of West Point, Willie L. Shaffer of St. Louis, Missouri, Lester Shaffer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tomas Shaffer of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; sisters, Lena Mae Shaffer of Chicago, Illinois, Pauline Shaffer, Dorothy Saul, Christine Robertson and Tanika Thomas, all of West Point; and two grandchildren.
