The Pickens County High School boys basketball team will encounter a peculiar predicament at 7 p.m. Friday when it plays at R.C. Hatch in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A Central Sub-Regional Tournament. It will be the first time in 15 years that the Pickens County Tornadoes will have to travel for a sub-regional tournament game.

He always had confidence in whatever sport he played — football, soccer, or baseball — but he feels something was missing. “When I was a freshman and a sophomore, I broke down mentally,” Aldridge said. “The physical part was always there, but I wasn’t thinking.

STARKVILLE — Jarvis Varnado had a career night Wednesday for the Mississippi State men’s basketball team. It was nothing compared to what Tasmin Mitchell did for LSU. Varnado scored a career-high 31 points, but Mitchell had a career-high 41 to lead the Tigers to a 97-94 victory in double overtime in front of a crowd of 9,021 at Humphrey Coliseum.
